575 Welcomes New Law Clerk

New Law Clerk-575-Law-Group

Audrika Masud, a second year law student at Texas Tech University School of Law, has recently started at 575 Law Group as a Law Clerk.

Masud explained what her position with the firm entails, “A law clerk essentially does whatever work the attorneys need. Specifically, I am working on a couple research projects now looking into federal and New Mexico law to give the attorneys on the case as much information as possible to create an argument on a case.”

“We are excited to have Audrika on our team. We believe that part of our duty as community lawyers is to encourage and mentor our future generations of lawyers. Audrika brings a valuable and different perspective to our cases and in turn, we are showing her the nuts and bolts of both case and office management,” said Rocky Rodriguez, the firm owner.

Research requires attention to detail and having an inquisitive mindset. “I enjoy getting to exercise and use my brain every day. I love feeling productive and learning new things. Also, I love the camaraderie that comes with law school with my friends and fellow classmates,” shared Masud.

“I have always had a logical mind, loved puzzles, and loved reading and writing. All of those skills led me to believe the legal profession would be a good fit. Additionally, as I got older I realized that I wanted to help people as well. The law profession is about finding and creating solutions for real people, with skills that were inherent to me,” Masud added.

After taking and passing the bar, Masud hopes to be working at a firm that actively helps the community and has a culture she’s happy to work in every day. “My friends and I are already planning our bar trip to Europe,” she said.

“I grew up in Dallas, Texas. I went to the University of Texas at Austin (much to Rocky’s dismay, lol!) and double majored in economics and government. I love college football season! I love to travel; my parents raised my brother and I traveling every year. I’ve been all over the US and many countries internationally,” shared Masud.

“Even though I haven’t been to Carlsbad, I have been to New Mexico. I’ve been to Santa Fe and Albuquerque. I will definitely be visiting Carlsbad sometime soon,” she added. In her free time, Masud loves watching movies, hanging out with friends and family, getting her nails done, reading books, and baking.

When asked what advice she’d give others looking at going into the law profession, Masud shared the following: “Don’t listen to people or lawyers who tell you not to go to law school. There are so many opportunities in the legal field, so many different types of laws and niches, and no one way is right. As long as you are prepared to work really hard and know what you’re signing up for, then do it! Do your research and find the best school for you and the best career path for you.”
